The Museum of the Mountain Man follows the history of the trackers and fur traders who once were the force behind much of the expansion of the West. The museum is located near Pinedale, the sight of many of the Mountain Men's annual "rendezvous" - huge celebrations that would bring all of the mountain men together for a week of drinking and gaming. On display at the museum is a Plains Indian tipi, one of only two held in museums, from the early 1800s.
